SongTsunami
Welcome

SongTsunami arose from the belief that songs have the power to change the world, if only just a little. Our volunteer workforce of songsters and supporters operates on the theory that, if one song can stir the soul, then a thousand might move mountains. Delusional or not, we conjure in our minds the collective cleverness and passion of a thousand songwriters surging forth at once, reveling in the irresistable force this monstrous wave might yield. It could be good. Or it could be catastrophic.
We pledge to use it for good.

SPRING'09 SONG DRIVE:

ATTENTION ALL SONGWRITERS AND ASPIRING SONGWRITERS!

We need a THEME SONG for this year's Steel Bridge Songfest (June 11-12-13-14) and a thousand more to present to Governor Doyle and the Wisconsin DOT in appreciation for their support for the bridge rehab. With the accepting of a bid and the awarding of a contract, the rehab has taken a giant step toward becoming a reality. This is major!

Songs can be any length, any genre. Lyrics can be literal or metaphorical, serious or silly. We intend to present an ipod containing a thousand songs to the Governor and the DOT onstage at this year's
Steel Bridge. The existing collection (Steel Bridge Songs Vols. 1-4) contains about 50 songs inspired by the bridge. We have at least a hundred more in our vaults. We'd like to add at least 900 more before the June 1st deadline. A selection of the best will be included in the upcoming compilation disc, Steel Bridge Songs Vol.5, which will be released to the public sometime in 2010. All acceptible songs will be posted online. One song will be chosen as this year's Steel Bridge theme, and be re-recorded with full production at Sturgeon Bay's Studio 330.

In the spirit of Steel Bridge
Construction Zone songwriter workshops, we encourage co-writing, but solo works are also welcomed.

Please submit original songs as Mp3s (9MB or less) to:
songdrive@songtsunami.com

There are no submission fees, no restrictions on content or eligibility, and no limit on the number of submissions per songwriter. Lyrics without music will be accepted via email. Writers retain full ownership of all rights to their songs.
Chosen songs will be performed by the writers in a special concert during this summer's Steel Bridge Songfest. A handful of participating writers will be chosen to attend the next "Construction Zone" songwriter sleepover at the Holiday Motel when it reopens. The deadline for submissions is June 1st.
